Croaked is an animated short about a frog down in New Orleans, who plays the cajun accordion on the corner. I was Look Development and Layout lead, responsible for all aspects of character look development and layout. Inspired by Caliche and Pao’s New Orleans Art, I led the team in developing a wonky, abstract visual aesthetic, infusing the film with groovy assymetry. We rendered the film in Unreal Engine, allowing me to dress the scene and set up the camera shots in an interactive 3D environment. Through the look development of this character, I learned about Subsurface Scattering Profiles in Unreal Engine 5, and surfaced the character to fit into his wacky, vibrant environment.
